Account & Profile

How do I create an account?

Download the Pickup app and tap "Sign Up". You can create an account using:

  • Email and password
  • Apple Sign In (iOS only)
  • Google Sign In

After signing up, complete the onboarding to set your sports preferences, skill levels, and favorite parks.

How do I change my username or display name?

Go to Profile → Settings → Manage Account. You can update your display name anytime. Username changes are limited to once every 30 days.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Settings → Manage Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes all your data including game history, friends, and messages.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password". Enter your email and we'll send you a reset link.

Games & Parks

How do I create a game?

Tap the "+" button on the Home or Map tab. Fill in:

  • Game title
  • Sport type
  • Park location
  • Date and time
  • Skill level
  • Player limits

You can also add a description, set it as recurring, and enable competitive scoring.

Can I cancel a game I created?

Yes. Open the game details and tap "Cancel Game". All players who RSVP'd will be notified. Please give at least 2 hours notice when possible.

How do I add a new park?

We use community-driven park creation. If you don't see your park:

  1. Tap "Add Park" on the Map tab
  2. Search for the park location
  3. Add park details (name, sports available, amenities)
  4. Submit for review

Parks are typically approved within 24 hours.

What does "skill level" mean?
  • Beginner: Just learning, casual play
  • Intermediate: Know the basics, play regularly
  • Advanced: Competitive play, high skill

Be honest about your skill level so games are fun for everyone.

Friends & Community

How do I add friends?

Search for users in the Community tab, or tap "Add Friend" on someone's profile after playing together. They'll receive a friend request to accept or decline.

How do park chats work?

Every park has a community chat. Join a park to access its chat. Use it to coordinate games, find regulars, and stay connected with your local community.

All messages are moderated for safety.

How do I block or report someone?

Tap the three dots on any user's profile and select "Block" or "Report". Blocked users can't see your games or send you messages.

For serious violations, always report. We review every report. See our community guidelines.

Privacy & Safety

Who can see my location?

We never share your exact location. Other users only see:

  • Parks you've joined (public)
  • Games you're attending (public)
  • Your city region (public)

Location services are only used to find nearby parks and games. You can toggle discoverability in Privacy Settings.

How does content moderation work?

Every message, profile, and game description is checked by AI moderation before posting. Content that violates our guidelines is automatically blocked.

Can I control who sees my profile?

Yes. Go to Profile → Privacy Settings:

  • Toggle "Discoverable" to control search visibility
  • Toggle "Friend Requests" to control who can add you
  • Manage blocked users

Technical Issues

The app won't load or keeps crashing

Try these steps:

  1. Force quit the app and reopen it
  2. Check for app updates in the App Store / Play Store
  3. Restart your phone
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app

If the issue persists, contact support with your device model and OS version.

Notifications aren't working

Check that notifications are enabled:

  • iOS: Settings → Pickup → Notifications → Allow Notifications
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Pickup → Notifications

Also check in-app notification settings: Profile → Settings → Notifications

The map isn't showing parks or games

Make sure:

  • Location services are enabled for Pickup
  • You have a stable internet connection
  • You've joined at least one park

Try zooming out - games may be outside your current view.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Contact us with:

  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • Your device and OS version
  • Screenshots if possible

We appreciate bug reports! They help make Pickup better for everyone.

Is Pickup free?

Yes! Pickup is completely free to use. No hidden costs, no premium tiers. Finding pickup games should be accessible to everyone.
